PREMIUM NON-STICK COATINGS FOR BAKEWARE: CERAM-X® HYBRID CERAMIC TECHNOLOGY
For oven-heated products such as baking pans, cake moulds, and microwave baking trays, GMMDL Vietnam provides CERAM-X®&mdashthe highest quality "hybrid" ceramic coating technology currently trusted by leading manufacturers worldwide.
CERAM-X® delivers significant performance advantages compared to traditional coatings:
Outstanding Scratch Resistance: Features a pencil hardness rating of 5H to 6H.
Perfect Thermal Stability: Exceptionally engineered for high-heat bakeware appliances, withstand temperatures exceeding 650°F.
FAQS ABOUT CERAM-X® TECHNOLOGY
For our clients and partners who want to understand the distinctions between standard ceramic, hybrid ceramic, and traditional PTFE coatings, we have prepared the following technical guide:
What is a ceramic coating?
Ceramic coatings are inorganic in nature, meaning the base resin components within the formulation possess physical properties similar to natural ceramics. The critical chemical reactions that form the key components of the matrix are completed progressively during the application and high-temperature curing process.
What is a silicone coating?
Silicone coatings are formulated with synthetic resins where the non-stick release is maximized due to the inherently low friction of silicone. These coatings are solvent-based, which is highly critical because they do not cause rusting during use (rusting is typically caused by chemical reactions between carbon and aluminum&mdasha common issue with other baking moulds).
While silicone technology performs exceptionally well in the short term, its non-stick effectiveness decreases over time as silicone is gradually stripped away by harsh detergents and normal washing/cooking cycles. However, for bakeware lines (cake moulds, oven trays, etc.), silicone has remained a highly suitable and widely used coating for decades.
What is a "hybrid" ceramic coating?
A "hybrid" ceramic coating (or composite ceramic) is a technology in which an inorganic ceramic matrix is blended with silicone to improve the overall flexibility of the coating. While hybrid ceramic coatings are slightly less hard and less heat-resistant than pure ceramic coatings, they offer a far more flexible and resilient coating structure.
Q: Why is greater flexibility so important and necessary for bakeware?
A: Oven-bound bakeware&mdashsuch as baking pans, cookie sheets, and cake moulds is traditionally manufactured from thin-gauge metals that can easily flex or bend during normal handling. Even minor impacts can cause the metal to flex, leading to microscopic cracks in the coating at those stress points.
On a baking tray, for example, such micro-bending is often invisible to the naked eye. However, as the non-stick coating gradually peels away from those microscopic cracks, it leads to burnt, sticky batches of baked goods over time. Conversely, cookware (like heavy-duty pots and pans) is constructed from thick, heavy-gauge metal substrates that do not easily bend under impact, meaning they do not require the flexible properties of a hybrid ceramic.
Q: Between standard ceramic and hybrid ceramic coatings, which one is better?
A: It is difficult to declare one as strictly better because each is designed for specific applications. Standard ceramic offers extreme heat resistance and surface hardness but lacks flexibility, making it ideal for heavy-gauge, rigid cookware exposed to direct stovetop flames. Conversely, hybrid ceramic is slightly less heat-resistant but significantly more flexible, making it the perfect match for thin, lightweight, oven-heated bakeware products.
Q: How does CERAM-X® compare to traditional silicone-hybrid ceramic coatings?
A: CERAM-X® delivers superior performance in scratch resistance, corrosion resistance, and overall surface hardness compared to traditional bakeware coatings, while maintaining an equally exceptional non-stick release.
Therefore, CERAM-X® presents no performance trade-offs compared to legacy technologies. However, please note that CERAM-X® is optimized specifically for bakeware applications (baking pans, trays, and moulds). For long-term, heavy-duty non-stick release, PTFE coatings still hold a distinct advantage.
Choose the technology that best fits your product line. If hybrid ceramic is the choice for your bakeware, CERAM-X® stands out as a highly superior option for manufacturers!
